13. The Parting of the Ways

“Russell T Davies!”

So, tell me the story in your own words…

“It was the part 2 and the Daleks were coming in and there was an invasion…”

“Oh, there’s millions of them! Wow! There’s like them parking people directing them where to go.”

“…but the people that ran that TV station, they’d stopped all the programmes and then they tried to evacuate everyone, but Linda with an I, she wouldn’t go because she wanted to stay because Rose and the Doctor had gone. The Doctor had gone to get Rose because she was on the ship, she was on the mothership of the Daleks, with the normal Daleks, but then they showed the big Emperor Dalek…”

“He’s got a big brain like bum cheeks that Dalek.”

“… he’s not as cool as I thought he would be, he’s not as good as on Top Trumps, he has that weird Dalek cover thing round him and do they have that in the film, no.”

“Yes, finally we get to see the Emperor! That thing’s actually 9 foot tall.”

[Best Dalek Voice]

“THEY. SURVIVED. THROUGH. ME!”

“They go back but then there was a load of people there, there was about a hundred on floor 0, so Captain Jack was like “You’d better come with me!”, and then, only a few of them actually went with him, and most of them ended up dying…”

“I don’t like it when they do that skeleton thing.”

“… but Rose, who the Doctor had sent back home…”

[Points sonic screwdriver at the departing TARDIS:]

“Bring it back!”

“…she tried to get back by opening the heart of the ship, but then when she did get back it made her eyes go all weird and then she could see every single bit of time, till time ended, and it was really weird because it was making her mind go all weird and koo-koo and just random rainbow chaos as Paul Cézanne says*.”

“She ends up fainting, but before she faints, the Doctor kisses her.”

“Do you think when they acted that they actually kissed? They could have put a piece of paper in-between!”

“That sort of gives him the weird eyes instead of Rose, so Rose just faints, but then the Doctor carries her back on to the ship and then he’s just stood there for a minute looking all weird and crazy, and koo-koo. Bit gormless actually.”

“It’s like Romeo and Juliet now.”

“When she wakes up she can’t remember anything, but the Doctor’s hand, his left hand to be precise, keeps going szzzzzzzzz!!!!! It keeps going because maybe it still has some of the time vortex, and he’s seen every bit which nobody’s meant to do, and then he tells Rose a bit about Barcelona, and he calls it “BARCELONA”! Then he just sort of flops back but still standing up and then there’s like a beam from each hand and then a beam from his head and then, maybe there’s a beam from his feet, I didn’t see, and then he looks back but his face sort of goes weird and wrinkly and then it comes out with David Tennant’s face instead of Christopher Eccelston, and then he’s like, “Where was I? Ah! BARCELONA!” And then the episode ends.”

Her Score: 9/10

“I wonder how Tennant regenerates?”

*Note: She’d been learning about Paul Cézanne that week at school.
